Netflix has a feast of beautifully filmed documentaries and movies which will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.
Here’s my top five recommendations to make the most of your subscription and enrich your life:
Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Set within the confines of a tough prison, the movie is dedicated to the friendship between two men, Andy (Tim Robbins) and Red (Morgan Freeman). One to watch when you need reminding that having hope is healthy and not a waste of time.
The Pursuit of Happiness (2006)
Based on the true story by Chris Gardner‘s about his year long struggle with homelessness while raising his young son. The movie is led by Will Smith who acts alongside real life son Jaden Smith. The chemistry between the two is so beautifully natural and goes from heartbreaking to heart-bursting with pride within minutes. One to watch when you’re feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you’re ready to be inspired to never give up.
Another true story, this time of Saroo Brierley’s journey to find his family 25 years after they were separated in the streets of Burhanpur. One to watch when you’re prepared to have an ugly cry but be left filled with wonder for modern day technology and the unending love a mother has for her son.
Field of Dreams (1989)
An all-American fairy tale about baseball, ghosts and family togetherness. One to watch when you’re questioning life choices and needing a little push to take a leap of faith.
Tony Robbins: I am not your guru (2016)
Tony Robbins is a master of human behaviour and changes the lives of millions of people through coaching. This documentary is an account of just one of these events: ‘Date With Destiny,’ as well as giving an insight into Tony’s personal life and motivation. One to watch when you feel you’re not living the life you’re meant to be.
